Tether is diversifying its assets. It has invested $102 million in agriculture, The Block reports. In August, the USDT steiblcoin issuer bought a 9.8% stake in Adecoagro, an agricultural giant from Luxembourg operating in South America.

Adecoagro is Argentina's main milk and rice producer. The company also grows sugarcane, soybeans, and corn in Brazil and Uruguay. Tether bought a 9.8% stake in Adecoagro, becoming the third-largest shareholder. Tether issues the largest USDT stablecoin. Its market value is $118 billion, while the nearest competitor, USDC steiblcoin, has a market value of $35 billion.

The company has also invested in biotech, gold, and AI.

A Tether spokesperson said that investing in land is a good way to make money in the long term.

Tether decided against launching its own blockchain. CEO Paolo Ardoino said the market is oversaturated.
